Giving is at the heart of discipleship.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matt. 6:21).
We give because God has first given to us — He is the source of every good gift (Jas. 1:17). Our giving is a glad response to His grace, declaring that He is worth more than our money. We give to fuel the kingdom work of our church in our congregation, our community, and beyond. Ultimately, we give because Jesus, “though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich” (2 Cor. 8:9). Giving generously is the responsibility and privilege of every church member, as the Lord enables.

Other Ways to Give
Generosity takes many forms. Beyond online and recurring gifts, many in our church family support The Shepherd’s Church through gifts of stock, donor-advised fund (DAF) grants, and other non-cash assets. These options can carry meaningful tax advantages — for example, donating appreciated stock held more than a year generally allows you to avoid capital gains tax and deduct the full fair market value.
We have partnered with The Signatry, a national Christian community foundation, to make these gifts simple and secure. You can make a one-time stock transfer with a few quick instructions to your broker, recommend a grant from a donor-advised fund you already have, or open a new DAF — which The Signatry makes easy to set up — if you would like to support multiple ministries over time.

A Sending Church
From the first of all that is given, we set aside 3% of our gross tithes for the spread of the gospel beyond Folsom. These gifts support church planting through the Great Commission Collective (GCC) — a family of churches committed to planting healthy, gospel-centered churches and strengthening their leaders, both across North America and around the world.
We give this way even now, while we are still a young church plant ourselves. We have not forgotten that the gospel reached us because others labored and gave before us; so from our firstfruits we gladly give that it might reach others still. Like the church at Antioch, which set apart Paul and Barnabas for mission while it was still young (Acts 13:1–3), we believe a healthy church is a sending church — entrusted not to hoard God’s provision, but to steward it for His glory among the nations (Matt. 28:18–20).
